Model United Nations Namibia (MUNNAM)
What is Model UN?
Model United Nations is an authentic simulation of the U.N. General Assembly and other multilateral bodies. The practice of simulating international organisations dates back to the 1920s when students held a series of Model League of Nations.
What do students do?
Students come together to role play UN delegates. By stepping into the shoes of UN delegates, students represent their countries’ interest to the global community. MUN participants build the global knowledge, skills and relationships needed to build a better global future.
Why should students participate in MUN?
MUN attempts to give students the opportunity to grapple with global issues in the hope of arriving at sustainable solutions that edify the UN mission of world peace. MUN initiatives develop students’ debating, public speaking, critical thinking and writing skills. Every year, hundreds of thousands of young people all over the world participate in Model United Nations (Model UN) conferences.
